What is the difference between a drum chipper and a disc chipper?
The two machines are different in structure.
Drum chipper: The drum chipper has a large rotating drum, and the wood is chopped through the surface of the drum. Drums usually have grooves, and the wood is sliced by blades by rolling along the surface of the drum.
Disk chipper: A disk chipper has a rotating flat disk, and the wood is fed into the edge of the disk, where it is sliced by blades. Disc chippers usually have one or more blades mounted on the edge of the disc.
Due to the difference in structure, drum chipper is suitable for processing larger diameter wood, which has strong production capacity, the output chips is thicker, more suitable for biomass burning or as wood primary crushing. While the disk chipper is suitable for processing small to medium diameter wood, and the wood chips cut out are thin and uniform in size, which are often used for paper making, particleboard, etc.
